Who’s Tired of Remote Work? Not the Workers

A new survey from Owl Labs finds most employees prefer to work from home or in hybrid settings post-pandemic

Will remote work become the new norm? The answer appears to be a resounding yes, according to a new survey.

Owl Labs, a maker of video conferencing equipment, found that 82% of knowledge workers surveyed globally prefer to work remotely or in a hybrid arrangement. The company’s “State of Remote Work 2023” report, which surveyed 2,274 knowledge workers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Germany, and Singapore, found:

• 61% of respondents prefer to work from home and never return to the office
• 21% prefer a hybrid arrangement
• Only 18% want to return to the office full-time

The survey also found that remote workers are more satisfied with their work-life balance and are more likely to report feeling engaged and productive. Notably, 75% of remote workers say they are more productive when working remotely.
